Well, hello there, folks. It’s Murray again, coming to you from beautiful Rutland, Vermont, where the snow is falling, the Christmas lights are twinkling, and my neighbors have once again turned their front yard into something that can probably be seen from outer space.
Ah, Christmas.
When I was a boy, Christmas was a simpler affair. We’d get an orange in our stocking, maybe a wooden toy if we’d been especially good, and if Grandpa fell asleep in his chair after Christmas dinner, nobody took pictures of it and posted them on something called social media.
Different times.
These days, Christmas seems to start around Labor Day, and by December everyone’s running around like squirrels that drank too much coffee. There’s shopping to do, gifts to wrap, cookies to bake, decorations to untangle, and relatives arriving who somehow always forget to tell you they’re staying an extra three days.
It’s enough to make an old man want a nap.
And speaking of naps, let’s talk about one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself this Christmas: a comfortable mattress.
Now, I know what you’re thinking.
“Murray, a mattress isn’t exactly the most exciting Christmas gift.”
To which I say: Have you ever received a necktie? Because I’ve received approximately 147 neckties in my lifetime, and not one of them ever helped me wake up feeling refreshed.
A good mattress, however, is the gift that keeps on giving every single night.
Think about it. Santa works one night a year. Your mattress works 365.
That’s a pretty impressive employee.
The holiday season can be exhausting. You spend weeks preparing for Christmas, then one magical morning arrives when children are bouncing off the walls, coffee is brewing, wrapping paper is flying through the air, and somebody inevitably loses the batteries needed for the most important toy in the house.
By noon, most adults are already wondering if it’s socially acceptable to crawl back into bed.
The answer, by the way, is yes. Very acceptable.
Especially if your bed happens to feature a quality mattress from Vermont Bedrooms.
Here at Vermont Bedrooms, we believe Christmas mornings should begin with comfort. After all, if you’re going to spend hours assembling toys with instructions translated from seven different languages, you deserve to start the day well-rested.
And let’s not forget about holiday guests.
Every Christmas, families across America perform a miracle more impressive than Santa fitting down a chimney: finding places for everyone to sleep.
You’ve got cousins in the guest room, grandchildren on air mattresses, and Uncle Frank somehow stretched across a loveseat that’s three feet too short.
If your guest mattress is older than some of your grandchildren, it might be time for an upgrade.
Trust me. Your guests will appreciate it. They may even leave on time.
Christmas is also a season of gratitude. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned that the best gifts aren’t always the flashiest ones. Sometimes it’s the simple things that matter most.
A warm home.
A good meal.
Family gathered around the table.
And a mattress that doesn’t make noises like an old pirate ship every time you roll over.
That’s true luxury right there.
So this Christmas, while you’re busy checking off gift lists and hanging stockings, don’t forget about your own comfort. A better night’s sleep can make every day brighter, every morning easier, and every holiday gathering a little more enjoyable.
And if Santa happens to ask what Murray wants for Christmas?
Well, besides world peace, an extra slice of pie, and a snowblower that starts on the first pull, I’d say a great mattress ranks pretty high on the list.
From all of us at Vermont Bedrooms in Rutland, Vermont, we wish you a very Merry Christmas, a Happy Holiday Season, and many nights of peaceful, comfortable sleep.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I have some eggnog to investigate and a recliner that’s calling my name.
Merry Christmas!
